After the Fire - Twisp, WA

After the Fire - Twisp, WA

This shows the different colors of the landscape after the Twisp River Fire burned areas along Elbow Coulee. There is the natural color at the crest of the hill, red fire retardant on the hillside, green from emerging grass and the black charred earth in the foreground. Three wildland firefighters were killed in this fire - Richard Wheeler, Tom Zbyszewski, and Andrew Zajac. A fourth, Daniel Lyon, was critically burned.
